CDR Polymers employees manually processed job sheets containing manufacturing information and formulas. These sheets were scanned into PDF files, renamed manually, and stored in a job code folder within the SharePoint document library. This process was tedious, time-consuming, and prone to human error, creating inefficiencies in workflow management.

By leveraging the AI Builder within the Microsoft Power Platform, Power Assist developed an intelligent solution to automate the job sheet management process.

A custom AI model was trained to extract key information—such as the date, job code, and formula—from the job sheets. Employees continued scanning job sheets as usual, saving them to a designated SharePoint folder. This action triggered a Power Automate workflow to analyse the files using the AI Builder model, extracting the necessary data.

 

The workflow then renamed the files using a consistent format that included the date and formula, and saved them into folders categorized by job code. If a folder for a specific job code didn’t exist, the workflow automatically created it, ensuring organized and consistent file storage.

The new system transformed the way CDR Polymers managed their job sheets. The automated workflow eliminated human error and reduced the time spent on manual tasks. Employees now enjoyed a seamless and efficient process for scanning, renaming, and organizing job sheets, allowing them to focus on more valuable tasks. This streamlined approach improved accuracy, saved time, and ensured a smooth, error-free flow of information.
